Newfield School Shines at Cat Lane Canter 2024

Back in April, Newfield School proudly participated in the Cat Lane Canter 2024, a community race that brought together runners, volunteers, and supporters despite challenging weather conditions leading up to the event.

The success of the event was a collective effort, with significant contributions from our students, FON helpers, and a special volunteer, a former Newfield student. His participation in honour of his mother, a former PTA member, exemplifies the lasting impact of the PTA’s work.

Our students and staff demonstrated remarkable athleticism in both the 5k and 10k races. Additionally, the youngsters enjoyed a fun run on the playing fields, tackling three challenging laps.

This event continues to draw local and regional runners, and we are grateful for the participation of running clubs from Killarmarsh, Barnsley, Holmfirth, and the Peak District. Special thanks to the Steel City Striders for including our event in their club championships.

With the support of everyone involved, the event raised a total of £2,246.06, which means each school received £748.69. This is a fantastic achievement, and we are immensely proud of our school community.
